The highly popular Christian Art Network has announced the selection of the top 10 entries for the Laudamus Award for Sacred Art. The competition – which was a call to artists to express their faith and spirituality through their creative works – drew an overwhelming response, with more than 1,200 submissions from 48 countries.
A £25,000 First Prize has been kindly donated by Christian Art’s benefactor John Studzinski CBE and now that the network’s panel of experts has selected the top 10 submissions, the winner will be selected by public vote.
“I have been profoundly impressed with the submissions,” said said Christian Art’s founder and head writer Fr. Patrick van der Vorst.
“The creativity, craftsmanship, and spiritual depth exhibited in each piece have been truly inspiring. Both professional and amateur artists have not only demonstrated exceptional technical skill but have also succeeded in capturing the essence of our Christian faith.”
“Our panel of judges has meticulously reviewed all the artworks. Through thoughtful and careful deliberation, we have narrowed down this remarkable collection to the top ten best works.”
Fr Patrick is a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Westminster. Before being ordained to the priesthood in June 2023, Patrick was a former Director of Sotheby’s Europe and worked 25 years in the art world.
“We are excited to present these exceptional pieces to you and invite you to vote on the winner. Your input will help determine which artwork best captures the spirit and beauty of our Christian art tradition,” said Fr Patrick.
Voting is open until 15th June, and you can examine all 10 top contributions and cast your vote here:
TO VIEW AND VOTE“You can cast your votes for up to three pieces that resonate most deeply with you,” said Fr Patrick.
“By casting your vote, you will help determine the artwork that best embodies the spirit of contemporary sacred art. Do feel free to forward the link to your friends and family and get them voting too. Maybe it’s a nice way of involving them in celebrating contemporary Christian art,” said Fr Patrick.
