Salford Cathedral has announced that it is to close its Cathedral Centre Books and the Cathedral Centre Cafe.
The diocese said that the decision has been taken by the Trustees after a great deal of thought and reflection, especially given the longevity of the Bookshop and the clear missional role it has played.
“Unfortunately, the bookshop and café are losing money and have been for a number of years, this is despite recent changes to staffing structures,” the diocese said on its website.
“The Diocese can no longer sustain the losses.”
The bookshop will close by the end of February 2024, and it is expected that the café will also permanently close in early 2024.
“We would like to thank all the bookshop and Café employees past and present for their dedication and service to the Diocese”, the diocese said.
