It is with great sadness that the Diocese of Hexham & Newcastle has announced the death of Fr Patrick Kennedy who died on Monday 4th March 2024, aged 87.
Please pray for the repose of Fr Kennedy’s soul.
Fr Patrick was received into the Chapel at The Little Sisters of the Poor, Waterford, Ireland on Wednesday 6th March and his funeral took place there on Thursday 7th March at 11.00am. He was then buried in his family plot. May he rest in peace.
Fr Patrick Kennedy was born 14 March 1937 and was ordained to the priesthood on 17 June 1962. He has faithfully served the people of the Diocese of Hexham & newcastle in the following parishes:
Curate:
Felling: St Patrick, August 1962 – May 1966
Tudhoe: St Charles, May 1966 – October 1969
Hebburn: St Aloysius, October 1969 – November 1976
South Shields: St Gregory, November 1976 – January 1980
Priest-in-Charge:
Newton Aycliffe: St Joseph, January 1980 – October 1993
Parish Priest:
Benton: St Aidan, October 1993 – September 2006
Retired:
September 2006 – March 2024
