MONSIGNOR PETER WILSON
It is the sad duty of St Brendan’s Church, Corby, to announce the death of Monsignor Peter Wilson, the second Parish Priest of St Brendan’s, where he served from 1992 until 2007. Mgr Wilson passed peacefully from this life on Ash Wednesday, 22nd February 2023, having been fortified by the Rites of Holy Mother Church.
Ordained on 18th March 1972, Father Wilson served in St Joseph’s, Bedford and in St Margaret’s, Dallington, before arriving in St Brendan’s in 1992; leaving from there to become Parish Priest in Oundle until his retirement from full-time active ministry in 2010.
Over the years Father Wilson fulfilled a number of roles within the Diocesan Curia and he served variously as Administrator, Secretary and Treasurer of the St Francis Children’s Society; and as Chairman and Secretary of the Sick and Retired Clergy Fund. In 2001 he was appointed a Chaplain to Pope John Paul II with the accompanying title Monsignor, although he still liked people to call him Father Peter.
Monsignor Wilson retired to Buntingford where he was near family members and where he would supply for priests of the area, being supportive of the local clergy.
Of your charity, please pray for the repose of his soul:
Lord God, you chose our brother, Monsignor Peter Wilson, to serve your people as a priest
and to share the joys and burdens of their lives.
Look with mercy on him and give him the reward of his labours,
the fulness of life promised to those who preach your Holy Gospel.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
