It is with great sadness that the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle has informed us of the death of Fr John Gibbons who died on Saturday 23rd December 2023, aged 84.

Please pray for the repose of Fr Gibbons’s soul.

Fr John’s body will be received into Sacred Heart Church, Boldon Colliery on Tuesday 9th January at 6.30pm and Mass will be celebrated. Bishop Stephen will celebrate his Requiem Mass at 12.45pm on Wednesday 10th January at Sacred Heart Church. This will be followed by burial at Jarrow Cemetery.
