Most Catholics will be familiar with the Wintershall and their dramatic renenactments of the Life of Christ. ‘The Passion and Resurrection Of Christ’ will take place at Wintershall’s Good Friday event in Trafalgar Square again this year, with the team delighted to announce that the part of Jesus will be played by Peter Bergin, an English teacher from St John the Baptist School in Woking.
Speaking about his challenging new role, Peter said: “Having been involved with Wintershall for some time, I was delighted to be offered the role of Jesus. I hope I can communicate His abiding message, working with the fantastic Wintershall team”
Peter will be reenacting the story of the Passion and Resurrection Of Christ at the Good Friday event in Trafalgar Square in London. On 7th April, one hundred Wintershall players will bring their electric and moving portrayal of the final days of Jesus to this iconic location in the capital. It will be an opportunity to experience the passion of Good Friday In a truly unique fashion.
“I am very much looking forward to sharing the story of The Passion of Jesus with the crowds that come to watch,” said Peter.
“Not least because the audience will include friends, colleagues and students some of whom might not be as familiar with the story of Jesus and his teachings. I hope that they enjoy the opportunity to be present with God. As for any worries, I’m just praying for sunshine!”
Details of both Good Friday performances
Both 90-minute productions are completely free of charge – a gift to Londoners and visitors and supported by the Mayor of London, no tickets are required. There is a performance at 12noon and 3.15pm. The production is open air with visibility maximised using large screens. There is a realistic interpretation of the crucifixion so parental guidance is advised. British sign language interpretation is provided.
The Designated Accessibility Area will be on the North Terrace at the top of the stairs in front of the National Gallery. Level access is available from East and West of the Square. All stewards in the Square will be able to assist you and direct you. Please bring a folding chair or wheelchair for the Accessibility area.
